Think and see the world in new ways; whether a newbie painter or you have taken a few classes, this course will challenge, inspire, and support you in your creative growth! We値l begin with color and abstract means for image making and then move into the basics of realistic representation through still life. Explore techniques for mixing and applying paint, analyzing value, seeing color, rendering light and shadow, and creating volume while developing a personal and imaginative approach. Get creative this summer!

Explore the foundations of drawing through the human form. This thoughtful, step-by-step class will guide you through an exploration of the human form and proportion including the face and the figure. We値l work with graphite, charcoal, and pastel. Each week, you値l be inspired through a series of drawing challenges and introduced to new media while working from a clothed figure model.

Mixed Media: Creation, Alteration, Transformation

Find, create, replicate, alter, transform and layer images and textures. Learn some of the time honored mixed media techniques such as: wax resists, image transfers, fabric collage, hand carved stamps, including 3-dimensional elements, dry brush paint techniques, ink washes and handmade paper. Explore content and subject matter such as: the still life, natural environment, self-portraits, abstract imagery, and social commentary. These techniques combined with your chosen subject matter can be used to create artist trading cards, small handmade books, works that can be framed or given as gifts. You may also desire to incorporate text in your work such as: handwritten poems, your favorite song or meaningful phrases. Let痴 get creative!

Sewing: Beach Basics
